Luciano Vietto is a forward of only 20 years of age, who arrived at Villarreal, where he currently plays, from Racing Club.
He is a right winger, with...
He is a right winger, with...
a lot of strenght and a natural ability to go past players that can frighten and trouble defenders of any team.
He is right footed, but uses his left well as well. Knows at all times where the goal is, but more importantly also has his tem mates in mind if they are better positioned.
He exploded to fame in the Buenos Aires team where he was handed his debut by Cholo Simeone.
However it was not until Simeone´s successor put him on the starting XI that he started to repay the faith put in him.
Not many 18 years old, mark their first start for their team with a hattrick, well Vietto did, when Racing beat San Martin de San Juan 3-1.
Not many 18 years old either, finish their debut campaign as their team´s top scorer, which Luciano, also did, helping racing to achieve a 5th place on the table.
He soon was on everybody´s wish list (Manchester United and City, Spurs, Bayern Munich, Juventus, amongst others) But Racing decided to keep him for a little bit longer, as they had faith he will become an even better player if he stayed.
It backfired on them, as the following season, Racing had one of their worst finishes (second from the bottom), and Vietto only scored 2 goals, for which reason his value, decreased and the clubs interested in him were not of the same calibre.
Unfortunately, it was the tactical usage of Luciano, by his Manager, that saw his goal tally go so low, affecting his team gravely in the process.
He played for Argentina at youth level on the U20´s.
In July of this year, he arrived in Europe as a Villarreal player, who paid Racing, around €6m for 80% of the rights to the player, with the other 20% still belonging to the Argentinian club.
He went straight to the starting line up, and has become a revelation for a team that has a tradition of including Argentinian players (Walter Gaitan, Claut, Cagna, Arruabarena, Barros Schelotto, Marioni, Pizzi, Coloccini, Battaglia,Riquelme, Palermo, Sorin, Figueroa, Rodriguez, Barbosa, Fuentes, Somoza, amongst them)
So far he is having a terrific season, particularly in the Europa League, where he is scoring goals at a high rate.
His best game was against Real Madrid, where he failed to score, but totrture their defence on many occasions, and went close a couple of times.
Definetly a player worth looking at and falling at his feet, i am sure Luciano Vietto, will become a fantastic player, as his best years are ahead of him.
